John and Carole Barrowman Signing

This event took place in Foyles down Charing Cross Road. The signing was 15 minutes late starting, but I didn't mind that as I had to wait about an hour and 15 minutes to meet them anyway. John said his friend would take people's phones and take photos of them if they wanted this. They made jokes throughout the whole book signing and people were always taking photos of them as they were waiting in the queue. I had 3 books for them to sign which were Bone Quill, Book of Beasts and Torchwood Exodus Code. Some people had come from different countries just to meet them. For example, there were people from France, Germany and China there. They got quite a few presents from people aswell.

When I finally got to meet them they were really lovely to talk to. I told them that I did own the first book in their series, but it was already signed. Which they said was a good thing and some were pre-signed. I even got a hug from John Barrowman aswell as I asked him nicely if I could have a hug. John's friend took a photo of me, John and Carole on my mobile phone. So happy to finally meet John Barrowman and to get him and Carole to sign my books by both of them. This was a fun day out and I hope to go to another book signing again soon.

Dark Societies Pierce Brown Event

This event took place at the Waterstones store in Piccadilly in London. The first part of the event was Pierce Brown answering questions from the event host and the questions were mainly about the novels, how he came up with ideas, how he created the swear words, etc. At one point he asked the audience if anyone had carrot cake which he could have. He also spoke a lot about Star Wars, Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings when answering some of his questions.

The next part of the event was the Q&A session. Fans asked questions about how long publishing took, which characters he enjoyed writing about, if he knew what would happen to characters before he started writing, how he chose who was going to die, etc. Fans also asked questions about how hard it was to write the screen play for the movie of Red Rising. Pierce also told us a funny story about a fan sending him a video of this fan as a Howler in the woods. That was a really funny story.

Lastly, was the signing and photo session. I was 5th in line to meet Pierce Brown so I didn't have to wait that long to meet him after the Q&A session. The first thing he said to me was that he loved my Star Wars top and then he asked what my name was. Whilst he was signing my novels he asked who my favourite characters were to which I replied 'Sevro and Pax'. From this answer he asked if I would be one of Sevro's Howlers which I replied no. He said I would make a good Red though as I can help people. He also said one of his friend's was mad for thinking that Pierce could be a Gold, Pierce would hate to be a Gold. After I got a photo with him he said he loved my Batman phone case. He was the loveliest author I've ever met. However, I have only met Pierce Brown and Becca Fitzpatrick. I can't wait to read Golden Son soon and get a copy of Morning Star to finish my trilogy. 

Black Ice

A girl is murdered in the first chapter of this novel, but who killed her and why? Britt and Korbie are going on a trekking holiday in the mountains and they encounter 2 mysterious guys when they get caught in a snowstorm. Who are Mason and Shaun. Also, why has Calvin, Korbie's brother, suddenly returned from university?

I really enjoyed this novel as it was a thriller and it contained elements of romance throughout. The whole novel leaves you trying to guess who the real killer is and why they were killing these young girls. It also leaves you wondering more about Shaun and Mason and why thy are trying to hide out in the mountains. There was action straight away in the first chapter, but it did kinda slow down towards the middle. However, the action picked up again towards the end of the novel.

Britt was a great character in my opinion as she would do anything from her friend Korbie so they both got off the mountain alive. She was brave and willing to do whatever it took. Korbie annoyed me at times as she moaned a lot and complained and basically didn't believe anything anyone told her about her family. So in my opinion she wasn't that likeable of a character.

Mason was a brilliant male lead character. He wanted to protect Britt and make sure that Shaun didn't hurt her. Their romance story was a good side plot to the main novel. Shaun was a great bad guy as he would hurt whoever he wanted to just so they could get off the mountain without being caught by the police. I did like Calvin at first, but the more you found out about him just changed your opinion of him. 

I was lucky enough to go to a questions/answers session with Becca Fitzpatrick at Foyles in London and meet the her too. She was such a lovely lady and signed my copy of Black Ice. This was the first Becca Fitzpatrick novel I've read, but I might have to give the Hush Hush series a read in the future.

Overall, this was a really enjoyable thriller for me. Loved trying to guess what was going to happen next and I always try to guess who the killers are. I gave this novel 5 out of 5 stars. Give it a read if you are a fan of Becca Fitzpatrick or just love reading thrillers/romance novels.
